ARGENTINA - MENDOZA

2003 Bodegas Salentein Shiraz Syrah 750ml - $17.99
Wine Enthusiast, Dec 2006, 90 points: "Salentein, after a few years of finding its way in Tupungato, has hit the mark with this tobacco- and spice-driven Syrah. The bouquet is ripe, with a hint of prune and earth, while the palate is full, juicy and full of berries, vanilla and coconut. Modern and woody, but satisfying. - M.S."

2004 Dona Paula Merlot Los Cardos 750ml - $9.99
JJ Buckley, Sep 2007: "Medium ruby core with a bright ruby rim. Red and black raspberries swim in milk chocolate and candied licorice aromas. The palate is ripe and fresh up front, followed by a note of white truffles. Nice medium tannins support the wine well."

AUSTRALIA - SOUTH AUSTRALIA

2004 Kangarilla Road Chardonnay 750ml - $15.99
Wine Advocate, Jan 2005, 89 points: "One of my favorite McLaren Vale wineries, Kangarilla Road offers very realistic prices for the quality of their wines. Displaying powerful aromas of limes, lemon oil, white peaches, and subtle wood, the 2004 Chardonnay possesses tight acidity, lovely fruit, loads of freshness, and a medium to full-bodied finish. Drink it over the next 1-2 years."

AUSTRALIA - WESTERN AUSTRALIA

2004 Houghton Cabernet Shiraz Merlot Proprietary Blend 750ml - $10.99
Wine Spectator, Apr 2006: "Extra tangy with acidity and flavors that veer toward citrus, despite the ripe currant fruit waving its hands for attention. Maybe with time. Best after 2007. 60,000 cases made. -HS"

CHILE - ACONCAGUA

2005 Cono Sur Chardonnay Vision 750ml - $9.99
Wine Spectator, Feb 2007: "Bright and lively, with crunchy acidity moving the fig, green apple and floral notes along. Drink now. 10,000 cases made. -JM"

FRANCE - BORDEAUX

2002 Benjamin de Vieux Chateau Gaubert Blanc Bordeaux Blanc 750ml - $19.99
JJ Buckley, Oct 2007: "Lemon yellow core with a clear rim. Smoky oak aromas over bright citrus and flint. The front of the palate is sweet Meyer lemon followed by lime zest. Good acidity supporting the wine. Light mineral notes linger in the finish."

2004 Peychaud, Chateau Cotes de Bourg Maisonnewe Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $11.99
Wine Spectator, Jan 2007: "Raspberry and watermelon aromas and flavors follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a light finish. Not imported into the U.S. Drink now. 4,445 cases made. -JS"

FRANCE - BURGUNDY

2004 Bernard Morey Chassagne Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Pinot Noir 750ml - $39.99
Burghound, Jul 2006, 88 points: "On the nose alone, this could pass for a good Chassagne 1er as it's unusually elegant for a villages level wine, offering white flower, citrus and spice hints that continue onto the fresh, racy and precise flavors that offer good personality if not great complexity. Still, this is a very pretty effort with good material that may add more depth with time in bottle."

FRANCE - LANGUEDOC ROUSSILLON

2002 Sainte-Eugenie, Domaine Proprietary Blend 750ml - $9.99
Wine Spectator, Jun 2004: "Fresh and lively, with red plum, crushed berry and creamy notes, which extend on the supple and flavorful finish. Carignane and Syrah. Drink now. 1,000 cases made. -KM"

2003 Vignoble Boudinaud Proprietary Blend 750ml - $11.99
JJ Buckley, Oct 2007: "Bright yellow gold from core to rim. White peach and dried nectarine aromas with a touch of coconut. Good mouthfeel - fairly weighty, yet balanced by good acidity. Similar fruit flavors as the aromas. Dry and clean finish."

FRANCE - LOIRE VALLEY

2005 Gaudry, Denis Domaine Pouilly Fume Sauvignon Blanc 750ml - $19.99
Wine Spectator, Dec 2006, 89 points: "Smoky nose, with a hint of matchstick leading the way for taut lemon zest, straw and flint notes. Long, tangy finish. Drink now through 2007. 700 cases imported. -JM"

FRANCE - RHONE

2003 Bouachon, Maison Chateauneuf du Pape la Tiare de Pape Proprietary Blend 750ml - $44.99
Wine Advocate, Dec 2004: "An internationally-styled Chateauneuf du Pape, this 2003 exhibits abundant quantities of toasty new oak (not yet totally integrated). There is plenty of generosity and texture on the palate, but the oak is slightly shocking at this stage of development. However, the wine possesses pure red and black fruits as well as medium to full body, and if the oak becomes more incorporated, it will justify a score above the mid-eighties. It should drink well for 8-10 years."

ITALY - UMBRIA

2005 Cecchi Orvieto Classico Proprietary Blend 750ml - $9.99
JJ Buckley, Oct 2007: "Pale lemon yellow with a clear core. Very light and flinty on aromas. Fresh floral notes are underscored by wild honeycomb. Nice acidity on the front of the palate. The honeycomb comes through strong, with wet stone and lingering citrus notes."

ITALY - VENETO

2005 Candoni Merlot Organic 750ml - $11.99
JJ Buckley, Oct 2007: "Ruby core with a bright pink rim. Red cherry and cocoa aromas are supported by charcoal and green pepper, with a light hint of sweet clove. Big rich, sweet red fruits on the front of the palate, supported by classic bold Italian acidity. This easy drinking Merlot will be an excellent match to any Italian dish."

NEW ZEALAND - MARLBOROUGH

2004 Thornbury Pinot Noir 750ml - $21.99
Wine Spectator, Dec 2006, 88 points: "Starts soft, with strawberry and cedary oak flavors, then tangy acidity, pointed minerality and herb flavors kick in and linger through the finish. Drink now through 2008. 500 cases imported. -DS"

PORTUGAL - DOURO

9998 Warre Warrior Special Reserve 750ml - $14.99
Wine & Spirits, Apr 2006, 90 points: "Fresher in style than the Warrior of the '90s, this blend is bright and vibrant, filled with luscious fruit inflected by the black pepper of schisty tannins. It's like a small-scale vintage, beautifully balanced."

SOUTH AFRICA - COASTAL REGION

2005 Fairview Viognier 750ml - $15.99
Wine Spectator, Apr 2006, 88 points: "Round and easy, with apricot, anise and peach flavors that run through a plump, tasty finish. Drink now. 4,000 cases made. -JM"

USA - CALIFORNIA

2005 Divas Uncorked Chardonnay Uncorked 750ml - $11.99
Wine Enthusiast, Jun 2007: "These divas are some winemaking women, and they've produced a Chard of style and elegance. It's long on crisp green apples, with richer notes of pineapple marmalade and butterscotch, and is completely dry. Very nice for the price. - S.H. (6/1/2007)"

2004 Parducci Zinfandel Organic 750ml - $9.99
JJ Buckley, Oct 2007: "Bright purple core with a violet and pink rim. Very spicy on the nose, predominantly anise, cola and birch beer, over dark blackberry jam and blueberry notes with a touch of black pepper. The cola and blackberries dominate the palate, but are accompanied by good acidity. Nicely balanced, with a touch of leather on the finish."

USA - OREGON

2004 Argyle Chardonnay 750ml - $11.99
JJ Buckley, Oct 2007: "Pale lemon yellow. Strong toasted oak aromas with dried herbal notes over yellow apple and candied citrus. Smoky on the front of the palate with citrus flavors leading to a touch of cream on the finish."

FRANCE - BORDEAUX

2002 Pavie Bordeaux Blend 750ml - ON SALE $109.99 (reg $119.99)
Wine Advocate, Jan 2005, 94 points: "While not as legendary as Pavie's 2003, 2001, 2000, 1999, or 1998, the 2002 is one of the top wines of the vintage. Its deep plum/ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of fruitcake, cranberries, cherry liqueur, crushed rocks, and subtle oak. Savory, full-bodied, remarkably concentrated, layered, and forward for a Pavie, it should be accessible in 3-4 years, and will evolve effortlessly for two decades."

2002 Cheval Blanc Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $189.99
Wine Spectator, Mar 2005, 92 points: "Fantastic aromas of black licorice and sweet tobacco change to raspberries and follow through to a full-bodied palate, with lovely silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Multilayered. A beauty. Best after 2008. 3,330 cases made. –JS"

2002 Cos d'Estournel Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $83.99
Wine Advocate, Apr 2005, 93 points: "One of the candidates for wine of the vintage, this beauty has a dense purple color to the rim and a classic, noble nose of graphite intermixed with black currant, spice box, licorice, and red and black fruits...A brilliant effort.."

2002 Ducru Beaucaillou Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $47.99
Wine Spectator, Jun 2003, 89-91 points: "Very attractive aromas of fresh berries, raspberries and cherries. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a medium, refined finish. Lots of finesse. Score range: 89-91 –JS"

2002 Monbousquet Bordeaux Blend 750ml - ON SALE $38.99 (reg $39.99)
Wine Advocate, Apr 2005, 90 points: "A strong performance in a difficult vintage, the 2002 Monbousquet (60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc) reveals abundant aromas of espresso, sweet black currants and cherries, damp earth, compost, and new oak. It is a medium to full-bodied, fleshy offering with light tannin as well as a long finish. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. This is the home estate of Chantal and Gerard Perse, who have become the poster children for owners taking a less hallowed terroir and producing sumptuous, high quality wine. Readers should realize that Monbousquet is not meant to be cellared for 20-30 years. It is a beautifully made wine that has performed well in every blind tasting I have conducted, often out-scoring far more hallowed as well as expensive wines."

2002 Canon la Gaffeliere Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $46.99
Wine Spectator, Mar 2005, 91 points: "Attractive aromas of Indian spices, red berries and pressed flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins. It builds on your palate. Very well-made for the vintage. Best after 2007. 3,000 cases made. –JS"

2002 Troplong-Mondot Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $43.99
Wine Spectator, Mar 2005, 91 points: "Attractive berry, sweet tobacco and olive aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky, tight tannins and a long, refined finish. Pretty. Best after 2008. 5,165 cases made. –JS"

2002 La Confession Bordeaux Blend 750ml - ON SALE $32.99 (reg $35.99)
Wine Advocate, Apr 2005, 90 points: "...reveals aromas and flavors of charcoal, black currants, sweet cherries, and licorice. Medium-bodied, powerful, pure, and moderately tannic, it should be drinkable between 2008-2017."

2002 Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion, La Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $29.99
Wine Advocate, Jan 2005, 86 points: "This elegant, medium-bodied offering exhibits smoky, earthy notes along with hints of figs and plums, medium body, and a short finish. Drink it over the next 6-8 years."

2002 Moulin St Georges Bordeaux Blend 750ml - ON SALE $29.99 (reg $32.99)
Wine Spectator, Mar 2005, 90 points: "Gorgeous, subtle aromas of crushed berries, Indian spices and cherries. Full-bodied, with rich and silky tannins and a long, luscious finish. Beauty. Velvety. Hard to believe, but I like it better than the 2000. Best after 2006. 2,830 cases made. –JS"

2002 Clerc Milon Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $34.99
Wine Advocate, Apr 2005, 90 points: "Cedar, burning embers, licorice, black currants, and espresso notes jump from the glass...firm, tannic, powerful, and muscular style of Clerc-Milon. Quite virile, a bit angular, but at the same time packed and stacked, full and concentrated, this impressive blend..."

2002 Haut Bages Liberal Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $24.99
Wine Spectator, Mar 2005, 89 points: "Aromas and flavors of blackberries, tobacco and cedar follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a soft finish. Not a big wine but nicely balanced. Best after 2007. 12,250 cases made. –JS"

2002 Larcis-Ducasse Bordeaux Blend 750ml - ON SALE $34.99 (reg $39.99)
Wine Spectator, Mar 2005, 92 points: "Aromas of plum tart and vanilla with hints of wild forest fruits. Full-bodied, with lovely silky tannins and bright fruit. Pretty wine. This is the first year that Nicholas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt took over, and it shows. Serious stuff here. Excellent length. One of the surprises of the vintage. Best after 2008. –JS"

2002 Mission Haut Brion, La Bordeaux Blend 750ml - $74.99
Stephen Tanzer, Jun 2005, 91 points: "($72-$90) Bright ruby-red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat and warm stones. Dry, classic and deep, but quite closed today, even a bit youthfully austere. Finishes very long, with substantial dusty tannins and brisk acids. Much more backward today than the Haut-Brion, despite possessing a lower indice de polyphenols totaux (65, compared to 70). But both of these wines really call for at least six or seven years of cellaring. 91(+?) points"

ON SALE - Vintage Caparzo Brunello

Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino - Buy 6 and Pay only for 4!**

Prime vineyard land on perfect south/south-east facing slopes combined with progressive adaptation of the latest innovations in growing and winemaking have given Caparzo the reputation and respect it has today. Caparzo is the only estate-bottled producer of Brunello di Montalcino to have estate vineyards on all five sides of the hill of Montalcino, giving them optimal exposure and flexibility.

Only the best grapes are used for the Riserva, which spends three years in traditional Slavonian and French oak casks, producing powerful, full-bodied wine that pairs perfectly with roasts, grilled meats, game, and ripe cheeses.

The La Casa comes from a location of the same name on the Montosoli hill in Montalcino. It is first aged for twelve months in French barriques and then eighteen months in French oak barrels, producing a varied and penetrating wine.

JJ Buckley is offering Caparzo's top two wines from two of the best vintages in Brunello - the 1999 and 2001 vintages are possibly the finest series of Brunello di Montalcino ever produced - at unbeatable prices. This amazing offer doesn't last long, so enjoy it while it lasts!

**To receive the discount, simply mix and match 6 bottles of either wine and a discount of 33.33% will be automatically applied in the shopping cart. Sale lasts only until Wednesday, October 10th, at midnight EST.

ITALY - TUSCANY

2001 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino la Casa Sangiovese Grosso 750ml - $69.99 (or buy 6 at $46.66)
Wine Advocate, Dec 2006, 91 points: "The estate’s top bottling, the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino La Casa, is a strong effort. More concentrated than the normal bottling, it offers notable finesse in its suggestions of flowers, spices, red fruits and well-integrated oak. Deceptively understated, it gives the impression of still having much to say, and a few years of cellaring are recommended.. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020."

1999 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Sangiovese Grosso 750ml - $84.99 (or buy 6 at $56.66)
Wine & Spirits, Oct 2007, 92 points: "A modern wine with a core of sweet cherry flavor, this is juicy and fresh. The ruby color and the gentle smoothness of the tannin make it feel ageless, a touch of orange rind the only hint of maturity. Probably at its best over the next several years, to decant for roast beef."
