An understated aroma of stewed tomatoes arises with a little time in the glass. Ripe style with a lot of acidity and very light tannin. The midpalate is medium bodied with a woody undertone defined by cedar and spices. The strong finish lingers. Great food wine."

JJ Buckley, Apr 2007: "A very dark, almost black core, is circled by a garnet and maroon rim. Warm milk chocolate aromas are followed by sweet tobacco, cedar and spicy vanilla over a core of rich, dark plum and black cherry. On the palate this wine is very well balanced, with soft and supple tannins. Coffee and bittersweet cocoa flavors are supported by dark cherry and plum with hints of nickel and a toasty oak finish."

Surprisingly high in tannin for such a light colored wine. Loads of minerality. Subdued and tight with a tannic finish unexpected for its light-weight frame."

N.V. Cristia, Domaine de Cul de Sac Proprietary Blend 750ml - $9.99
JJ Buckley, Jul 2007: "This wine is a declassified Chateauneuf du Pape. What does that mean? Domaine de Cristia makes outstanding Chateauneuf every vintage. 2002 was not as strong a vintage, and rather than produce an inferior wine (like many other CDP producers did) they decided to age it and blend it with some of the outstanding 2003 vintage to give it more backbone. Thus, this is a high quality CDP from a top producer at a fraction of the price! Dark fruit aromas are accented by light floral hints and some scorched earth. In the mouth the wine is fresh and bright, with red cherry and notes of plum. Medium bodied with nice tannins, and a good streak of mineral under notes of baker's chocolate. A great drinking wine right now."

Wine Advocate, Dec 2003, 88 points: "The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, from a tough vintage, is not as powerful as most examples. Nevertheless, it possesses a deep ruby/purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of damp earth, black currants, tobacco leaf, and saddle leather.
